  1. buy a playstation 3 which has a bluray player built in and it always has firmwaree updates so it will always have the best up-to-date technology/features. plus u can play sick games

AND its the cheapest bluray player out there right now

  2. wait  until blu-ray gets more wide spread

  3. If you're worried about prices, then wait a bit before you buy since prices will go down real soon and DvD is not dead yet.

But if you are hesitating because of what the future holds, then you will not go wrong with blu-ray. It is the standard of the future and will replace DvD in the next few years.

HD formats are becoming more and more norm and big with many television formats as well. DvD can't handle this so we need blu-ray for this.

And keep in mind, the blu-ray spec does allow for standard definition (SD) and also players can play DvDs so you can't lose.

When DvD will die soon expect to see blu-ray discs with, for example, 5 seasons of the Simpsons in one disc (due to the higher capacity and better video compression formats available).

So even if SD video lives on, it will live on in blu-ray since it supports both SD and HD.

The future is definitely blu-ray for the next 10 years until HD download technology is mainstream.

  4. I'd wait. See what digital transition brings us first. You might have to pay more money right there for that.

  5. Help the economy buy a blu ray.

  6. i could be wrong but my feeling is that BD will be a niche product the same way that laser disc was. unless they start selling combo BD/DVD disc that i can play in my main room then take in car or play in the bedroom. i still waiting to see if it will be mainstream and affordable.

  7. that is up to you.. i have a ps3 but don't use it for blu-ray because i want to be able to watch my movies in other places than one tv.. and blu-ray movies are more expensive and have a smaller collection of films... i personally would go for an upconvert dvd player which, depending on the one you buy and the tv you own, will play your standard dvds at 1080p.

  8. yes a wait maybe the best option but, if u cant wait then i suggest u buy blueray. if u like games as well its better off getting a ps3 because it is actually cheaper here in Australia. to buy a blueray in Aus. it is near 900$ and to get a ps3 with blueray is around $650
