If a minor cant carry insurance on the parents then that means the parents then carry it. I enrolled my family 4 yrs ago and divorced. My sons dad lost both of his legs and Cigna doesn't want to pay the claim. Go figure. There are no exclusions when enrolling but they have taken my money for 4 yrs and don't want to pay out on the accident. How do children get taken care of if the Insurance companies won't pay out on accidental policies for the parents injuries.

  1. Once you divorce, he's not ELIGIBLE to be covered under YOUR policy.  You have a duty to notify them, when there is a qualifying event.   Some guy that you USED to be married to, isn't YOUR relative any more.  A relative of a relative, isn't good enough.

It's IN WRITING.  You probably just didn't read it.

Not what you want to hear, I know, so I'll just kiss those ten points goodbye . . .

  2. You're lucky YOUR coverage hasn't been cancelled for fraud!  By the way, you probably received a COBRA General Notice that informed you that you have to give notice of a divorce...bet you didn't read that, either.

  3. You were committing insurance fraud by keeping your ex-husband on the policy.  I guarantee you have that in writing already.

I know that's not what you want to hear, but really...why in the world would you think that your ex-husband would still be eligible to stay on the policy after you got divorced?

CIGNA may not have found out about the divorce until recently, but that's *your fault* for not reporting it.  Had you reported your change in marital status, they would have removed him from the policy.

  4. It not just Cigna, all the insurance companies will do the same thing. Once you are divorced he is no longer eligible to be on the same policy. Of course they took your money; they didn't know you divorced because you didn't tell them. The children get taken care of by parents, not the insurance companies.

I'll kiss the 10 points goodbye as well.
