Question:

Get my mind off it?

Hello, recently I've come to realize that I really want a baby. However currently it is not feasible in my life to have said child. Why? A.) I am currently not in a relationship thus partake in no activites to bring about a child.

B.) I am active duty military with deployment orders for september. I actually wish to deploy for finacial reasons which will also better able myself to provide for a future child.

I would assume that the reason these feelings have come about because the majority of women in this city are pregnant since our entire brigade is deploying. (legacy babies, the -just in case- babies for worst case scenarios) Also I would again presume these feelings are also my own "worst case" scenario feelings. My subconcious is telling me to propagate my genetics in case I'm KIA. Anyway, can one suggest how to subdue these feelings? I don't want them to cause me to do irrational behavior such as unprotected s*x with a stranger.

Thank you.

  1. Spend some time with a close friends child or better yet a young one in the family

  2. Concentrate on learning the skills that will help you survive your tour of duty.  Get a hobby--marksmanship might be a good one since it will help assure your survival.

Read a lot.  Find other interests.  Talk to men who may have the same subconscious desires to propagate and learn how they subdue them.

Finally, let the logic you have detailed in this question guide you.  You know what the right thing is.  Do it.

  3. I don't think you could have these thoughts if you would come to the realization that any child deserves a  mother & father in a happy relationship,  a home and  to be taken care of by them.  so if you can make yourself understand that this is true,  these are the things a child  MUST have...it is their right....how could you have the thought that you could have a baby w/o these things?   Isn't that what you really want for your child?

I hope that is what you had...if not,  even more the reason  for you to provide it for your child.  Then you can convince yourself to focus on the present...do what is necessary to get to the future....wait for Mr. Right to come along,  take time w/him....enjoy each other,  set up your home for your future children.

All these things  need to be done before you can bring a child into the world.  I know you want the best for that baby.  Now you have to think  along those lines......how to get where you want to be.   the white picket fence so to speak.

It would not be easy to have a child w/o all these things.  It would be hard on the baby and you.  the baby would not have it's god given rights......that is not what you want for your baby....is it???
