Get rid of the Department of Agriculture?

Is it true that some people are trying to get rid of the US Department of Agriculture? Why would anyone want to do that? Please explain.

Haven't heard this one.  Obviously, anyone who wants to get rid of the USDA has no conception of what they do or the services that they perform.  I ofter disagree with some program or another that they start, but to think of doing away with them is a bit of an overkill, don't you think? Hmmm... maybe we should get rid of the Supreme Court.  I might really get my teeth into that project.  Or the UN, now that really has some merit.

I've not heard about anyone trying to get rid of the USDA, but I know a lot of farmers who would like to get rid of its management.  USDA has "partnered" with corporate agriculture and has a plan that will harm small farmers.

Since over 70% of the USDA budget is for nutrition programs and another 20% is for regulatory controls not much of the money goes to farmers and that is mostly to get them to overproduce so we have cheap food.  Since farmers are blamed for the whole budget that may be why some of them really don't care for the Department.  Premesis ID is going to be another boondoggle, so that is another reason to consider disbanding the Department
