I have tryed baking soda, boiling vinigar, lemon juice, and I am going to try amonia. When you use amonia, do you delete with water? Do you leave the freezer on? What kink of pan do you use to put the amonia in? How many days do you leave it in the freezer?

  1. Rewash with the baking soda and then leave an open box in the freezer.  It should absorb the smell.

  2. Hello,

Wow, this is a good question...If I were to use comet, or bleach, I would dilute it yes, with water, so as not to have such a strong smell...and maybe just a day or so...

Good luck, and no more bad meat, eh?...lol..

  3. I'd try good old fashioned hydrogen peroxide. Wipe or spray on and let it set. Follow up with baking soda and keep your fingers crossed. Be sure to keep the door cracked open if you're not running it while its empty. Be careful if you decide to use the ammonia in a closed space like a freezer, the fumes can be very powerful! I've seen where people put some coffee grounds in a smelly refrigerator. Best wishes!

  4. Free spirit says it best.  If you have more food in there you don't want thawed out put it in someone else's freezer because it will take a few tries and airing it out.

  5. Turn the freezer off.  You are going to have to use bleach.  I suggest 1 cup to a gallon of water.  Wipe it all over the surface to be cleaned, let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes and then rinse well with clear water.  If there is a drain on the freezer, make sure that you run the bleach solution through the drain to kill any lurking smell.   You also need to wipe the seals off well, getting into the cracks and crevices.

I have also heard of people using mouthwash, something like Listerine or the store generic brand.   Wipe full strength on the surface and let it sit for awhile and then rinse with clear water.

Remember not to mix Bleach and Ammonia together, it makes chlorine gas and that could kill you - literally!!!
