The Capital club take on the challenge of high flying Mallorca in their next domestic outing over the weekend. While Getafe have sunk to 17th place in La Liga points table, Joaquin Caparros’ men are comfortably seated in 3rd place behind
Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, with Malaga and Sevilla following them.
Ahead of the fixture, Getafe goalkeeper, Miguel Angel Moya, took out time to reflect on the upcoming La Liga match-up. The Binissalem native claimed that he is eagerly anticipating the fixture against his boyhood club, stating that they hold a special place
for him.
Moya stated that he holds fond memories of his seven years association with the Iberostar based football club but believes emotions will not come into play when he meets them on the pitch.
He pointed towards Los Azulones poor league form and claimed that improvement on Getafe’s league standing his their current obsession. Continuing on the topic, the 28-year-old claimed that El Geta need the three points on offer and will have extra impetus
to work hard.
“It is always special to face them, because playing against my former team and it is also where I have grown up playing grassroots football,” the goalkeeper said.
“Our goal at Mallorca is to improve our League position and not to obsess about it, but try to win. Those three points would give us breathing room, not to say that we lack that already, but it would give us extra energy.”
Additionally, Moya claimed that he wants to keep a clean after leaking in goals galore from the start of the season. Getafe have conceded 10 goals so far, a statistic the goalkeeper attributes to their poor concentration spans.
“When the goals are conceded, a percentage of them are for mistakes. We have not been fully engaged, whilst there has been a lack of concentration for some goals, whilst others have been influenced by misfortune, although we should not make excuses.”
