Gethin Jenkins expresses his desire to represent Wales in the 2015 Rugby World Cup - Rugby News
Welsh international professional Rugby Union player, Gethin Jenkins, has expressed his desire to represent Wales in the 2015 Rugby World Cup. He revealed his desire while talking to Western
Mail on Saturday, November 5.
Jenkins said his ambition to appear in the next Rugby Union’s premier tournament is very dependent on his physical and mental fitness to play the game. He said, “In the back of my mind I want
to play another World Cup. That obviously depends on the body; you just don't know how you're going to feel in a couple of years' time.”
The 30-year-old Jenkins made his international debut for Wales against Romania at Wrexham on November 1, 2002. He so far has made 82 international appearances, which includes five appearances
for British and Irish Lions and remaining for Wales. He has also scored 20 points coming from his four international tries.
Jenkins has played in three Rugby World Cup tournaments including 2003, 2007 and most recently in the 2011 Rugby World Cup tournament.
The Welsh international front row forwards player has expressed his satisfaction with his performance in the international arena. He added, “I enjoy playing international rugby and I would
be very disappointed to lose that aspect of my life.”
Jenkins plays at the prop position for Wales and for his domestic Rugby Union side, Cardiff Blues. He denounced the notion of over-age to play in the 2015 global showpiece tournament. He said,
“Props in general, they have long careers, and there are more and more examples of people going on for longer at the top. Yet it does depend on the toll the game takes on your body because games these days are so physically intense.”
Jenkins termed the field atmosphere in the international matches and while playing for your country as great. He expressed his desire that he will like to continue making the appearances for
his country to continue enjoying the pleasure of playing an international game.
Jenkins further revealed that his counterpart in the front row forwards, prop Adam Jones has similar intentions.
