  1. I'm not a lawyer.  I am a father of three though, so take the advise as is......

I doubt that the judge will allow it without the adoptive parents being there.  When I adopted my ex-wives daughter, I went to every court appearance.  They also assigned a lawyer to my daughter to verify that it was in her best interest.  Even though I was already living in the same house with her as her step father.  They had to do interviews and other things to make sure it was in her best interest.

If your "adoptive" mother has THREE warrants, she doesn't sound like that great of a bargain.  EVEN if she straightens out her life, she could end up in jail for at least a short while, while they deal with the warrants.

I don't know your age, but I would be careful because once you are adopted, your birth parents have NO obligations to you.  You can't just undo it.  Adoptions are harder to undo than a marriage.  I would talk with an adult that you respect to get their opinion.

  2. Thank goodness the Judge isn't stupid!

People who want to legally adopt a child need to have a home study which would include criminal history and background checks...

Parents who want to Adopt a child would WALK to court if they had to....  And a family that is able to adopt and care for a child should have a way to drive from TN to TX that really isn't such a long trip....

Your parents don't have to let other People Adopt you---they can set up legal paperwork to have other people take care of you....  Why don't your parents just talk to an attorney and set up legal a guardianship agreement?

Eitherway--however I doesn't seem like this home in TX is such a great place with someone who doesn't even take care of their legal obligation and has warrents.... What will happen to you when this person is arressted and put in jail due to the warrents? And why would someone who breaks the law, and gets warrents be a good placed for someone to be adopted....

I don't think any of this sounds like it will lead to an adoption.... but, your parents can make a private arrangement to have someone care for you--of course if they choose someone with 3 warrents your parents may lose their parental rights for being so careless....

  3. even in an adoption like your explaining there will have to be a background check and a home study, especially in Texas and if the other people have warrants then I'm sorry to say its not going to happen

  4. Is this for real?

  5. Any person who has 3 warrants out for their arrest cannot adopt.  If they get the warrants cleared and time done, as long as the crime doesn't have anything to do with violence, federal crimes, abuse, or anything that involved a gun or weapon, they might be able to work it out, but until that is done, they aren't parent material, because what is going to happen to you if they get arrested?  They have to have a home study done before the adoption is approved.  I pray your home life gets better.
