Getting 4yo allowance, Mentalist has obvious claims in Betfred Goals Galore Handicap Chase at Ludlow
Things are massively in favour of Mentalist, who is unlikely to face any trouble in bagging the top prize in Betfred Goals Galore Handicap Chase at Ludlow on Monday, November 26th. The 4-year-old showed a lot of good stuff on his recent two starts
after the seasonal break this year.
After staying out of action for more than nine months, the Venetia Williams-trained returned to action at the end of October. He showed great effort on his comeback, and captured the second position at Bangor-on-dee. Owned by Brooks, Burke & Cunningham,
the bay gelding secured a place on the podium last time.
The spectators at Musselburgh saw him showing an outstanding act in the Edinburgh Evening News Beginners' Chase. Despite plenty of pressure, the Aidan Coleman-ridden finished third behind Civil Unrest and William Money. Although the son of Westerner could
not trouble the leading pair, he beat the rest of the pack quite comprehensively.
Having made a couple of fine rides, he is ready for something big, especially after getting the 4-year-old allowance. He has done well in winter before. In November 2010, he dashing runner clinched two consecutive triumphs, but he has been winless since
then.
On soft two miles, he alongside six others will start running at 14:15 GMT. The class 3 meeting is carrying a handy prize of £7,596. There should a good pace here, but still the conditions might get testing.
Mentalist needs to stay cautious of Cool Touch, who is showing great consistency these days. The 9-year-old was runner-up on his previous three starts. After taking a three-month-long break, Nigel Twiston-Davies’ trainee made his way back to the field last
month, when missing the gold only by a length’s distance in the Become An Annual Badge Holder Handicap Chase at Wetherby.
Besides these two, no one is likely to do something special. Sublime Talent continues to look very high in the weights. My Brother Sylvest has recorded four hurdles wins, but all on the better surface. Get It On is not in good rhythm. Moreover, the conditions
are unlikely to suit him. Good luck to all.
