  1. so you're an international adoptee?  i'm assuming that's what ins refers to in your case?  i think that makes a difference.  can you clarify?

ETA: if you're a citizen you should be set that day!

  2. i'm adopted. i have a very happy life. ok,  sadly i don't remember much of it b/c i was 8 and i didn't speak the same language i spoke Russian they spoke English. But i think it takes maybe 2 months or more. not sure. Where are you going to live. i think it exciting to be adopted. Don't ur parents know this info? But again, i'm pretty sure it 2 months or more...

    hope   i helped

  3. It appears that you are being adopted by an American citizen and will use that status to apply for permanent residency in the US.

Because of your age, you will go through normal US citizenship procedures - that may take about 3 years, depending on how long you have lived in the US.

Meanwhile, you will be classified as a Resident Alien. That is probably the procedure you are waiting for right now. Usually that visa takes about 3 months. However, all visas are now approved at the National Visa Center in New Hampshire, and they seem to be somewhat overwhelmed - perhaps 6 months or longer. Once your adoption is finalized, your new mother needs to consider contacting her US Representative and speak to someone on staff about looking into the delay in getting your visa.

Good luck to you - welcome to the USA. Stay out of trouble, cause it is really easy to get deported.

  4. If the hearing is set for the 10th, you should be finalized as of that date.  The INS paperwork can take significantly longer.  Since you are an adult, it could be as much as a year, though hopefully significantly less than that.
