Question:

Getting Around New Zealand?

by  |  earlier

0 LIKES UnLike

I will be in New Zealand later this year and I want to see as much of it as possible.

I know that there is a bus I can catch but New Zealand has so many places of interest.

Does the bus just take one straight line moving down the island? If I want to go to the eastern side of the island do I have to take another bus to get to that area. Or does it veer off to other places of interest?

(Hope you are following me)

Any possible answers appreciated.

Thanks

  1. Suggest you google the various bus companies - they each have their own methods of getting you there.

    *Intercity- direct

*Newmans- direct but goes to the odd major sights

*Magic- tours to the sights on the way, mainly for 18/30 year olds

*Kiwi Experience- same as Magic, mainly 16/25 yr olds

    Stray Travel- don't know

    Nude Bus- don't know

    Northliner- direct Auckland-Bay of Islands

    Bottom Bus- tours of Catlins/Manapouri

K Bus- tours of Tasman Bay and service through to Dunedin

Guthreys- more or less a cheap direct door to door run

    Atomic Shuttles- as for Guthreys

Newton Citibus- RailTrail to Queenstown and Dunedin to Mount Cook as well as Otago tours

Knight Rider-  direct South Island overnight travel

Barbecue Bus- Queenstown to Milford tours

That's something to start with. The ones marked * are available through both Islands.
