How do I get my ball spin down with my driver. Yesterday it was 8600 when it should be 2000

Any tips on how to fix that?

  1. How on earth do you know what the rpm's were.?

  2. Swing differently.

  3. I will assume you mean backspin, not sidespin (slicing, hooking).

There are several things you can do to reduce backspin with your driver.

    1. Shallow you angle of attack. Try to sweep the ball off the tee instead of hitting down on the ball, like an iron.

Try a practice swing in high (residential lawn length) grass, sweep the club over the grass and try to make the club head stay in the grass as long as possible. Extent you arms fully, don’t pull from you shoulder.

    2. Try hitting up at the ball (tee the ball a litter higher). Golf is sometimes a game of opposites, hitting up may flatten you attack angle. I have had people tell me to tee the ball down for less backspin; that never worked for me.

    3. (and least likely to help) Try a stiffer shaft, with a high bend point.

  4. Where are you getting the statistics regarding " ball spin" from your driver ? Is this a new innovation which  I have never heard of in 74 years playing this game ? If you are hitting from the inside out with a comparatively strong grip, you will get top spin which results in a draw with much roll. Please explain to us novices what the 8600 and the 2000 represent .
