You're confusing a vasectomy with a prostatectomy.  

A vasectomy merely means the tube from your testicles which carries s***n to the urethra has been severed.  The resulting loss of s***n caused by the loss of sperm is very slight and you probably won't even notice it.

Prostatectomy (surgical removal of the prostate) effectively ends the transmission of s***n which makes it impossible for the sperm from your testicles to reach the urethra.  Instead, the sperm move up into your bladder (retrograde ejaculation) and are expelled the next time you urinate.
