Getting LPN license online?

My stepmom was looking into get her LPN license. She works during the day and I'm trying to find a school were she could get it by doing her classes online. Where can I find a school at?

  1. There is no way she can do it totally online. At some point, she will have to do her clinicals at an assigned hospital/workplace and that cannot be done online. I would be very careful of an online school for LPN-employers may not really like it. You should also look at your state's laws to make sure the school you choose is accredited and up to state standards.

    Check out your community colleges. They all have night classes. She can attend classes at night  for most of the credits, and then when it comes time for the clinicals, she would have to work at night/quit her daytime job.


  2. You can't do anything that involves patient care online alone. Nursing involves a lot of hands on work. You may be able to take some courses online, but really it just isn't designed for it.

  3. There are plenty of schools that have online LPN degrees, however you usually have to complete the practicum classes onsite at a hospital, as those are hands on training courses.  First place to look is your local community college, as this will cut down on costs being an in-state student.
