  1. s video only transfers video not audio you need either stereo left and right audio cables and the s video cable or just plain old audio video cables

  2. You can only use one cable at a time!! Firewire will transfer video & audio!! S-video is the picture only!! No sound transfer!! S-video has to be used in conjunction with audio analog cables(red & white plugs) . See your camcorder manual or go to Radio Shack!!

  3. You can get a dazzle (analog converter). They are inexpensive (75.00) and easy to hook up and use.

  4. The analog camcorder came with an AV cable. One side of the AV cable plugs into the camcorder. The other side has a Yellow (video), red (right or mono audio) and possibly a white (left audio if stereo). This is the same color layout as you would find on a VCR or DVD player or on a TV with video in jacks.

The digital camcorder came with an AV cable that connects to its AV-in jack and has Yellow (video), red (right or mono audio) and a white (left audio) RCA jacks. Match the audio jacks together - you may need to get a couple of RCA gender benders that are female on both sides to connect the male RCA audio jacks from the two camcorders.

S-video connection provides a better analog video signal. Plug the S-video cable in and unplug the yellow video cable. The audio cable(s) stay connected.

The digital camcorder would connect to the computer using firewire... this has nothing to do with the connection from the analog camcorder to the digital camcorder... but that firewire connection is a digital connection that carries digital video and audio information to your computer.
