Getting Out & About in Paris +Le Bataclan - Is It Wheelchair Accessible?

Question

Hello I want to go to Paris in June for a mini holiday with my fiance and also to see a concert at Le Bataclan concert hall on 50 voltaire street on 18th June. I am disabled and a motorised wheelchair user and wanted to know if Le Bataclan caters for te disabled and is wheelchair accessible, with lifts, accessible loos etc and also if anyone knows of any hotels etc near the bataclan that have accessible rooms and if the transport in Paris is Wheelchair accessible please as we really want to go to this concert but can't find out any relevant info in French let alone English!

Paris do much effort to integrate handicap personn you can find many place many hotel locomotion for personn like you!

I know it all depends on the extent of your disability, but I personally found Paris to not to be very chair friendly.  My main problem was accommodation.  Disabled public toilets are often in with the others loos.  What I mean is that there is a disabled cubicle in the gents and one in the ladies.  So, if you happen to need help and your carer is the opposite s*x to the toilet your in that can cause problems.  I also find a lack of adequate handrails in the toilets.  One last thing, even though I requested a disabled friendly room I was expected to be able to climb in and out of a bath.  Basically I think France just has different views of disabled people and what they are capable of.  You may not be as disabled as myself so this may not be relevant to you, but I am just speaking from my own experience.

Some, but not all buses are accessible and Metro access is very limited.

Accessibility for the wider community is not as important in France as it is in the UK.

However, some bus are built on a flat tilting platform, providing ease of access for people on wheelchair.

Many underground stations have no elevator. However, Rifilian gave you a very good advice, alternatively, you could join the RATP, the public transport agency in Paris as they can provide on demand transports.

I've lived in Paris and have seen a few wheel chairs around and people are very considerate. But they are not subway friendly so bare in mind that you may have to take a few more taxi's. I have a girl Friend who wants to go but she has polio and it's not going to be easy for her but we will go sometime in the fall when the air fares go down hopefully !!

All major concert halls and museums have accessibility. Have fun Bon Jour
