Getting Regular (Bowel Movement)?

I'm about to start a new job, and I'd prefer to be regular, right in the morning. What would you recommend?

  2. Coffee usually does the trick for me but you could trying a cleansing tea or a stool softener like Senacot to loosen you up. Drink lots of water too- the better hydrated you are, the less chance you'll be constipated.  

  3. You would definitely need to increase your fiber. For a woman, it is about 20-30 grams of fiber DAILY to keep your digestion on a regular track and your bowel movements regular. If I understand your question correctly, you are trying to "do your business" in the privacy of your own home prior to going to work. For most people, it is difficult to get the right amount of fiber in their daily diets. Especially those that are high in saturated fats becuase they have a tendency to refrain from eating the things that are good for them-. Whole grains, vegetables and fruit (fresh) are the foods that are richest in natural fiber. Foods such as oats, bran, brown rice, whole wheat breads & cereals, pears, bannanas, apples, broccoli, artichokes, carrots, tomatoes, almonds, peanuts etc....are all fantastic food types to integrate (if you don't already consume ) or integrate more of into your diet. Once you begin to eat these foods you will increase your fiber intake and your body will adjust to that and begin to become regular again. It does take at least a week or two to get back in line with where you should be, but I would suggest also taking a fiber supplement (pill form or powder that dissolves in water) in addition to eating high fiber foods to be sure you are getting your minimum intake. And yes, someone answered Dannon Activia to promote healthy digestion. Absolutely. If you like yogurt, eat one of those every day as a "fruit" and you'll get your calcium too. Same with all the other fruits and veggies, you'll get plenty of everything else you need, not just the fiber. All of this together will regulate you. Once you consume enough fiber on a daily basis, most of it should be in the afternoon when people tend to eat their heaviest, digestion overnight, drop the kiddies off at the pool in the morning. :o)

  8. High fiber cereal for breakfast, lots of water through out the day and lots of fruit and veggies for lunch, snacks and dinner.

  9. Just increase your fiber.  If you're not able to increase it much in your diet, they have great fiber supplements in every grocery and drug store.

  10. a bowl of high fiber cereal at night before bed and a cup of coffee first thing in the morning.
