I was born outside US but I am a legal resident now and go to college here. I've lived in America for about 4 years, but on September 2008, I want go study abroad to England for 2 semesters. Month before that though, in August that is, I will have exactly 60 month (5 years) behind my belt, of living up here. Is there any way I can apply early on for US Citizenship and then my Passport, so I would have all the documents before September?

  1. Not a chance.  You have to file your application for naturalization, pass your exams, etc.  Then you'll be assigned to a naturalization ceremony to take the oath of citizenship.  Then it can take several more weeks to actually receive your paperwork.  If you have permanent legal residence, you can go to school in England, then wrap up the citizenship when you get back.

  2. Hello

I understant your position but, not a chance my friend. You can't rush immigration and there is no fast process, not even with an attorney.

You must wait until your 5th year, just like every body else.
