Question:

Getting Up on a wakeboard.

Today I went out on my boat and decided to try my wakeboard out. I got it for $50 with bindings. It is too big for me but it should be fine to start. Well i tried to get up but water seemed to just push on the board and in my face. It didn't begin to plane even though I held on and had my knees tucked into my chest. So what should I be doing? ie. tilting the board forward to create water flow so it isn't as rough?

  1. Lay down in the water with the board mostly out of the water with your knees bent and your arms straight.  Then when the boat floors it, lean back and let the boat pull you up then turn sideways.

  2. Ive been looking at this same question time and time again. I read" lean back",  "don't lean back", " arms straight" , "arms bent". whatever is said someone will say the opposite. I think the key is to not straighten your legs out too fast and to keep your body "locked" into a position that will pull you up. its got nothing to do with anything but what works for you. if you cant get up change something and try again. eventually you will find the way for you. for instance, the other answer says lean back. I cannot get up leaning back, I do a crunch of sorts when I get up. the best thing to say is have an experienced driver and work at finding the key.
