Question:

Getting Waxed?

I'm sorry if this is TMI for anyone, but is anyone getting a bikini or brazilian wax for their honeymoon. I'm thinking about getting one, but everytime I think about it; I get sort of embrassed. I'm really shy and I don't want someone looking down there. You know, but I really want to get one.

Did anyone get one? How was it? Is it really that embrassing? Tips? How many days before you leave, should you get one?

  1. believe me your husband won't care how you look.  He will be ready to make love to you with a full or naked bikini area.

  2. Did anyone get one? always do-bikini (brazillian can be a bit much for first time)

How was it? I'll be honest it hurts, but its over fairly quick and you are hair free for a while!

Is it really that embrassing?  some locations for a regualr bikini should have a dispoable thing to wear not to show too much.   Try different locations for other waxes and find someone you are most comfortable with

Tips? Do it on the AM if you can, early when you wake.  Dont apply anything they dont telly ou that you can.  And get one done before the wedding to be sure you know how you persanlly take it and how your skin reacts.

How many days before you leave, should you get one? under a week but give it a day or so to calm

  3. I havent gotten one yet but called a shop to inquire.  They said they do it for a living so dont be embarressed.  Its not a show to them.  But, there is supposed to be some numbing cream that you can use about 45minutes in advance to help with any 'pain'.  Call a local shop and they should be able to give you some tips.

  4. you've never been waxed before..

ummm... the first time getting waxed hurts ...

and its kinda awkward -but bikini waxers are trained professionals and should treat you professionally ... but hey if you want it done get it done!...

depending on the way your hair gows it takes weeks for it to grow back.. and each time you wax it less and less hair should grow back and comes out thinner....

    DON'T SHAVE BETWEEN WAXINGS!!!

-when you shave hair gets thicker

and don't get it done the day of or before an event... because you'll be kinda red if its your first time

if its months away i would get one as soon as possible to get your body use to it ... then3 or 4 days before the event

    ^-^

  5. Well don't be. These women that do these have seen it all and let them know that you are embarassed and feel shy. They will make you feel more comfortable. Go to a nice place where they give you a warm blanket. They do have numbing cream that does help and also taking a couple of Ibuprofen an hour beforehand will help cut down on the tenderness and pain.

It is gonna hurt no matter what so that is a given. I say try doing it several months ahead several times to get use to it and if you like it then do it a few days before you go. You do get red and swollen and need to allow time for that to go down before s*x. It will hurt if something is rubbing up against it irritating it further.

  6. It's nerve-racking the first time but after that it's fine. They see lots of different girls everyday so they are used to making you feel relaxed. Just go to a reputable place.

If you're really nervous, I recommend just going for a bikini or an extended bikini wax the first time. For both of these they just move your underwear across to do the waxing- so you don't have to take your underwear off (and they don't see everything- just the parts they wax!). Whereas with a Brazilian they do everything so you have to take off your underwear.

I'd get it done two days before you leave so any redness has time to settle down. Don't forget to exfoliate so you don't get any ingrowns- you can ask your beautician about how to avoid ingrown hairs.

It hurts a bit but it only lasts a few seconds and they also usually use some numbing cream. I expected it to hurt much more than it actually did from what other people said.

  7. You have nothing to be embarrassed about, they see it all day everyday because that is your job.

If you can go through getting a bikini wax a Brazilian wax is like 5 minutes more pain, that's it.  I've had them done, it's nothing more painful or embarrassing than a regular bikini wax.  Just tell them it's your first time and they'll be extra nice and some will let you leave your panties on and work around them if you are that embarrassed.  I find a Gyno appointment more awkward than a bikini wax to be honest.

I would go 3 or 4 days before your wedding. That way you'll be super smooth but not red (sometimes the next day you can be a bit red), and it will be far enough that you won't have too much other last minutes wedding stuff on your plate.

  8. I haven't had one, but my daughter did and said that it hurt so bad she had to go home and go to bed!

So, if I was going to do it, I would do it about a month before hand to make sure you didn't have a reaction, then, if all went well, have another closer to the day.

I have to tell you that I would be embarassed, also!

  9. I notice anyone who has a wax experience or thinks positively about it gets negative thumbs down. So get ready for the lion share.  I love it.

I usually nair or neet. That is the dilapatories that remove hair with just the creams. 5 minutes on your leg or other areas and it wipes smooth and hairless. The benefits for this is the hair isn't thick. I notice when I go a long time without doing it I have very fine and few hairs.

But I prefer to wax to be final. The advantages can last longer. But any part of your body you have not wax before is going to hurt. I mean like willing to give away the combination to the safe to stop the turture hurt. So I do not recommend you doing this any immediate day prior to the wedding.

There  is a weird side effect that no one mentions until after you have done it. Blood rushes to that area...so your fiancee will love the mood you are in.

By your 3rd or 4th time, if you have one not been scared from the first experience and still want to do it again, you can practically read a magazine, and feel but a mild discomfort.

Waxing last so much longer with no hair.

It is not even about guys, I prefer it.  You skin feels so smooth.  I work out so it is good for order control to keep the hair minimal on your body. Some anti-wax prefer complete au natural, which is not my thing. I had a friend who preferred hair , and can be militant about it as a movement.

Beauty routines as a movement is silly to me.

It is not about them, I know men who like both. Some who like hair and others who have cancelled dates if they see so much as a strand of hair on someone's leg.

It is about what you like.

And it is not rough on your skin as almost daily shaving.

    Between waxes I nair.

The ladies who do the waxing  tare so professional you wont even be put out by the experience.

  10. it freakin HURTSSSSSSSSSS!

  11. I get my arms waxed and that hurts,  I would never get a bikini done! Just get new razors and shave it!!  If you do want it done, I would say get done at least a week before.  Oh, I also heard if you take asprine or tylenol before hand that it helps with the pain.
