Getting a Bad Phone Number?

About a year ago I signed up with Vonage and ever since I've been getting almost a call a day from collection/debt companies asking for "Gloria Vasques". I figured out I must of inherited her old number.

The question is short of getting a new number how do I get them to stop? And yes I've told them she doesn't reside at this number. I've also added my number to the do not call registry but since this isn't advertising they don't block these type of calls. Is it's the phone companies responsibility since they gave me the number?

I also went through that before. They gave me a number which was from a former business. I was harass day and night. I call the telephone company and change the number. They did it for free.

I had once the same problem with a new number....!  I was almost ready for the rubber-room, so I finally had them change the number, free of charge, of course!! Then I started getting mail for this person, including letters from the IRS....I finally bought a caller ID manager, because I couldn't take it anymore....that went on for 2 years....! make it easy on yourself....get a new number....
