Getting a cleaner sound from the clean channel?

like smells like teen spirit intro..

when i try to play it in the clean channel, it sounds deep and cheesy

what can i do to get a cleaner sound from the clean channel?

  1. check the treble and mid settings... perhaps raise them a bit...


  2. turn the bass down to about midway, turn your mids to about.....10 o clock.  turn your treble to 3, make sure your volume is pretty low.  maybe put it on the neck pickup.  it could just be a function of your amp though, what are you working with?  when i started out, i had a marshall mg series, and i found that pretty much the clean channel on that was a lost cause.  what i ended up doing was putting the bass and treble (it had no mids!) to about 9 or 10 o clock and keeping the volume low, and just hoping for the best.  you can also get a pedal to reduce the gain and raise the volume, which is a complicated idea.  basically you lower the sensitivity and rais the power output for volume increase without input increase, so you get loud with less effect on the tone
