Getting a credit card at 17?

i am 17 and i keep getting letters from capital one about being pre-approved for a credit card, would i be held responsible if i put my age as 18 instead of 17 and what would happen if i did?

jail time! u r not legal to get a credit card yet! plus u shouldn't get one at 17 anyways!
