What does it feel like? What does the dentist have to do. Does it hurt?

What about the temporary crown?, does that hurt?

  1. Getting a crown is usually an experience that does not create a pain greater than the slight pinch like feeling you get when the anesthetic is given. Once that is accomplished you will feel only pressure when the tooth is touched as it's prepped for the crown...While the tooth is being reduced in size by the dentist slowly using the high speed drill to cut away the excess tooth structure, you may feel some vibration, nothing you can call pain though...I'm accepting that your dentist is a very skillful and talented dental professional and because of that your crown prep experience will be pretty well without feeling and certainly no pain. That also applies to the temporary crown as well....Once the numbing has worn off you may need to take a Tylenol or Advil but you shouldn't need anything stronger than that...Good luck and I wish you well.
