Getting a fake tooth?

I'm 15 and I might need a fake tooth to replace one of my front teeth. When I get the tooth removed will I be able to get a fake tooth like rooted in there or do I have to wait until I'm 18?

  1. Your face is still growing. Placing an implant at age 15 sort of 'freezes' the bone in place and at age 21, the tooth will not be at the same length as the next one. Wait until you are 21.

  2. Depends on amount of money your parents have. In Calif. they are about $2500.00.

  3. What you will probably want to do is get an implant because they are permanent. You could get a crown but they have to file down the teeth on either side of the gap and crowns have to be replaced as they age. When you get an implant they surgically insert a metal post into your jaw bone and after it heals they will attach a tooth that looks just like a real tooth. This is really the best and most permanent method to replace a single tooth. Being 18 wouldn't have anything to do with it, but someone would have to pay for it if it's not covered under your insurance. Talk to your dentist about your options.
