I know everything about horses and keeping them as i used to work at a yard.

i now want my own one. what convincing arguments can i put across to my parents? they are adamant not to let me have one as they are always on about time

is it a good idea to get one with my GCSE's coming up, then A levels, then Uni?

can you keep a horse when in University? I looked at stables near the Uni i want to go to and there are ones in 5 minutes driving distances

can anyone tell me the advantages and disadvantages of having a horse?

  1. ok well the cost of boarding and feeding is the problem with your parents. it costs to board, horses are great though.

I don't like boarding because you cant see your horse all of the time. i live on a farm with a lot of horses, i get to see them all the time, with boarding it isn't very good because it costs a lot, plus you cant see your horse as much.

dont get a horse if you cant have it at your own farm, unless you are rich. only if you are rich and can go over there every day should you buy a horse and board it.

  2. Your parents might not want you getting one because they are worried about the cost of it boarding at the stable. But if that stable isn't as expensive as the stables I've checked into then maybe they want you focused on your studies. I can't exactly think of any arguments because where I live people are all for getting horses. Horses are great though so maybe you should just base your argument off of what you could do with that horse. Also parents love it when you do your research and show them that you have.

  3. You can always try leasing a horse. It will give you the closest possible experience to owning a horse without actually owning one. That way you can work out the advantages and disadvantages for yourself.

  4. if ur old enof to got to a university, then ur old enof to buy ur own horse, or are u asking them for the money

  5. I think owning a horse while going into college wouldn't be such a good idea.... you need to focus on your studies, and if the horse gets hurt, your are gona have to take care of it when you should be studying.... Plus, the price of college and the price of boarding are going to be alot combined.... I would honestly wait till you get out of college to get a horse, but why dont you consider leasing 1?

  6. I agree with Ravenchance, because your in college owning a horse will be difficult. You will be paying very exspensive bills, and having the time to just spend time with your horse. Try leasing one for a couple of months, if your schedule fits start looking for one for sale.

  7. ok well of course u know theres alot of advantages as u pbly know....u have a companion u can ride for excersize and for fun or competivly and even win cash  (well at least for western idk about if english riding wins money but watever)

and the disadvantages are that they cost alot of cash even once u get them cuz u still have to pay for ferrier and grain, also if u dont have the land for a horse boarding them is like rediculousely expensive and if anything happened to ur horse alot of times u cant get the full story on wat happened to them, also u need to kinda have time for ur horse especially if u r thinking about stalling them most of the time cuz when they get out and **** they r full of energy.

honestly i feel like there are more advantages if u r willing to pay alot of attention to them.

  8. Who will be paying for the horse.  A horse cost is stabling, vet bills, like worming vaccinations, a farrier, feed for your horse, and exercising.  If you are going to school, you have to have time for your school work, and then your horse.  If you keep your horse at a stable will he be in an area that is big enough, for him to run around for exercise or will you have to go out and exercise him yourself.
