Question:

Getting a grade off of your transcript?

Back in '96 when I was 18 I took a college course ( math 106 ) that I received an "F" in. I ended up dropping out of school after that semester. I am now back in school and have just took that same course again over the summer and passed. The problem is, is that the grade I just received this past summer did not replace the grade from back in '96. The math class over the summer was called 106R as opposed to the 106 I took back in '96. The only difference being that the summer course was at a much faster pace than the original one - exact same course work though. My school does not want to replace the grade basically because of a technicality - that being the name of the course....like I mentioned....one is called math 106 & the other one is called 106R. Is there any way to petition to get this one grade off? I know you can petition to get whole semesters off your transcripts, but I am looking only to get one grade - the F from 12 years ago off. Any advice?

Thanks!

  1. i dont think you can

  2. Talk to your professor about the name of the course - maybe she/he can intervene for you by telling them it's the same thing.  Also, most grades expire after 10 years - maybe they can take it off for that reason.

  3. Getting grade off your transcript is quite difficult. You may find it harder though to get gravy off it. However this can be achieved using a mild detergent and luke warm water.

  4. Unfortunately, I do not think you can make that grade disappear because grades do not expire. That is why when you look for a job, they look into your transcripts even if you got them 10-20 years ago. Basically, that grade is a part of your academic history. That's the problem that you can't do anything about. I'm sorry.

  5. Don't worry about it... just get your degree and move on with your life.
