Getting a grant for college?

I've been considering going to college and I've been trying to decide where I should go.

My Mother told me she got a Grant to go and so did my uncle, and I could get a grant as well to where it wouldn't be hard on me financially.

But I'm not sure how to go about this.

Can anyone help?

The grants your family received in the past were probably federal grants call "Pell grants" based on being low income.  To apply, go to http://fafsa.ed.gov if you are going to go to school in the fall or in the spring or summer of this school year.  If you are a senior in high school you will have to wait until after Jan 1st to do the application.
