Getting a job while waiting for green card

Question

now that most of you say she needs to wait for her green card before she can get a s.s. no, and then a job. what about as i've been seeing and hearing thats its legal to just get EIN tax no. for now until the green card is pending?

Just like what the above post said, she will have to apply for a work permit. She is then able to obtain a SS number and thus work in the US.  Just keep in mind that it has to be renewed every year until she gets her green card and there's a fee that goes along with it.  Good luck.

To apply for an EIN, you still need to give the details of the individual heading the company, along with their SSN or ITIN.

An EIN is for a business, not an individual, and will not help in any way in terms of accepting employment with a company.

She could apply for an ITIN since she is not eligible for an SSN, but like the EIN, an ITIN is still no use when it comes to getting a job.

Having an SSN is not a legal requirement to getting a job. To get a job you need to have valid work authorization. That's only going to come from US Citizenship, a green card, an employment authorization document, an I-94 stamped with the credentials for a valid work authorized visa, or a combination of documents that prove you are an individual who is eligible to work. An ITIN or an EIN is not one of these documents.

She's going to have to wait for work authorization to be granted to her, and for documentary evidence of that authorization.

You should read the answers to the questions you've already posted.

I told you, once she gets her work permit (you did file the I-765, didn't you?) she'll be able to get a social security card and work.  She should get the work permit within 90 days from filing the I-765.  She can take the work permit to ANY Social Security Administration Office and get an SS card.

She cannot work with an EIN or an ITIN.
