Getting a new rod. Anyone know if Fenwick is a good brand?

I'm interested in getting another rod and was wondering if anyone used the Fenwick rods. I'm interested in the 6' light spinning Eagle GT (2 piece/ 2-6 pound line) rod. Has anyone used this rod? Can you give me comments or recommendations?

**I'm going to use this rod for trout**

  1. fenwick is one of the oldest and most reputable makers in the world but honestly! Bass pro shops has their own brands at $14.99 - 29.99 with a one year guarantee and they flat do the job all $100.00 rods do. With all the money you save you can buy a $45.00 spinning reel.

  2. Fenwick rods are fine, but I would prefer a Falcon anyday. They make fine trout rods as well.

  3. That's a good rod for what you want to do. A few of my fishing buddies own a few of those rods. They are Fenwick's most affordable rods, but they don't lack the quality you're looking for at all. I'm more partial to one piece rods, but I've fished all day with a buddy who used the 7" two piece with no compromise in comfort or strength. You wanted comments so here's a link from Cabela's, read the customer reviews about this rod.

  4. Fenwick are good rods, they have been around for a long time and are built well, they aren't the best rods on earth but by far not the worst rods, they will see you lots of happy fishing so long as you clean it, to prevent corrosion. The blanks are good and the last time i checked they use quality eyes so go for it.

  5. you should get a ugly stick, just cause the name is wierd doesnt mean anything. Ugly sticks are used by pros and everyone they have a great reputation and are the most flexible rods. I gurrantee you will catch fish with it. ( ;

  6. I bought a Fenwick 2 years ago. I use it for trout, bass and walleye. I knew the moment I picked it up that I would be buying it. I love the sensitivity of the rod. I get a lot of hookups that I would miss with a lesser rod. I haven't used the model you are looking at, but I would not hesitate to buy another fenwick.
