Getting a permit at 18?

Question

when i am 18 do i still need to drive 6 hours with a hired instructor and 50 hours with someone that has a drivers license, and wait 6 months till i can take the driving test? what are the differences between getting a permit now ( 16 years old ) and getting it when i am 18?

I think you can just go for your license when your 18.
