Question:

Getting a "Following too closely" ticket waived?

Yesterday I was driving out of school, and there's a stop sign to turn right as soon as you leave. I reached down to grab my phone because someone was calling me, and by the time i looked up I was really close to the car in front of me so I slammed on the brakes, but it was too late. The car in front of me was scratched up, but had no dents or anything, while my hood was folded back and the lights were knocked out.

Do you think there would be a chance that I could get this ticket waived? I've only been driving for a month

  1. I think the others have pretty well covered it.

Take your lumps and learn from this. ... and consider yourself lucky.

Oh ... and the guy you hit? ... he can sue your pants off now. ... oh, pardon me ... your parents' pants.

  2. NO.  You are supposed to be in control of your vehicle at all times, not trying to talk on the phone or do other things while driving.

  3. You're kidding if you think you can  get out of it as there is no way you can.  Haven't you been told that driving is a full time job and requires 100% of your attention?  Just think...what if it was a person you hit instead?

  4. Nope, you will not be able to get out of this, sorry.

  5. nope, you were involved in an accident, depending on the amount of damage it may be a non reportable accident.  if you got a ticket, it basically is a done deal

  6. No thats why you stay off the phone when u r driving.
