  1. While your getting it done think that the needle is just some ice that someone is rubbing on you and the piece of ice is really cold just dont look at the needle while its poking you, thats all i know

  2. When I get tattoo's I take my Ipod - anything that will help take your mind off the pain, it might not be so bad, depends where you get it on your body.

When I had my first one I got so worked up about it that it felt like a little scratch when I actually had it!!

  3. You definitely want to eat before you get a Tat.  You don't want to sit there for at least an hour and have your stomach grumbling.  Plus you need the energy to supply the adrenaline you'll use during the process.

When I got my first tat a year ago I drank lots of water before hand and took a couple ibuprofen to take care of a little of the pain and to prepare my body.  The body reacts to a tattoo like it's an infection so it wants to heal the area around the ink.  The ibuprofen takes care of any inflammation.

It's good to bring a friend along to have someone to talk to.  If you're a little nervous or if your having a very big tat done it can get kinda boring just sitting there.  Talking is distracting and will let you ignore any pain.

I know you don't want to talk about the pain but to share my experience.... I am a big wuss and I was incredibly scared about the pain so it took me 12 years to finally get my first tat.  It took about 10 minutes to get it done it was no where near as painfull as I'd expected.

About three months later I got my second tattoo which took about an hour to complete and I still didn't any serious pain.  It basically feels like a cat scratch while getting it done and the area surrounding it feels like a sunburn for a few days.

I made sure to put unscented, white (cream) lotion on it two times a day for the first few days then ones a day after that.

Depending on where you get the tattoo it is fairly painless and easy to take care of.  The one I got on my leg a year ago I still make sure to put lotion on because my legs tend to get very dry and it would cause the tat to look faded after a while without the extra moisture.

  4. Don't drink alcohol, or take any painkillers before you go.

Eat before you go, and take a small sugary drink/snack with you.

Talk while the artist is doing it. If not listen to music, or read a book/magazine.

For me, it hurts less when I watch, but some people find it easier not watching (I'm nosey and like to know what's going on)! I like to ask questions, makes me feel more relaxed.

You'll be fine, and good luck on your first tat!

  5. don't take anything - alcohol, painkillers, none. it will affect the tattoo while its being done and healing. same with numbing creams.

definitely eat, it doesn't have to be right before, but don't skip any meals or anything.

yes, talking helps keep you distracted. i brought someone along for all of my tattoos, and it helps.

relax - don't think about the pain. before i got mine, i heard they feel like everything from unbearable burning stinging, to almost tickling. i was actually pretty curious to see for myself what they feel like, and they're not that bad, 2/3 of mine didn't hurt at all.

  6. No preparation is needed, just go. Never get a tattoo on your: Face, Neck, or Hands. Mine are placed in spots that can easily be covered or easily seen, depending on my mood and place I'm going to.

  7. my arm didn't hurt that bad but when i got the one on my back it hurt. but other than that its kind of like a deep massage. don't be scared.

  8. Tattoo's make poeple ugly... i would'nt have one even if ypu paid me to....

  9. i bit down on the front of my shirt

  10. Well seen as your getting it ON MY BIRTHDAY!

im gonna make it a painful experience! ;)

  11. Its just a sting, make sure you tell the guy to change the tip( to prevent any transmitted diseases like AIDS....)

  12. Eat what you like.

The pain sensation is personal. No two people have the same pain threshold.

Where you are being tattooed will obviously make a difference to the pain. Don't believe anybody that says it is more painful close to a bone. I have an ankle tattoo and didn't feel it (across the bone). I had a tattoo on my buttock cheek (nowhere near a bone and it hurt).

Most tattoo artists will not do the job if they think that you are under the influence of drink or drugs.

  13. don't get one, think about when your old and wrinkly. if you really have to get one, get them ones that are reversable, its permanant like the real tattop but youc an go back to the parlor and get it removed easily in one go with their own lazer unlike the old one which is a process and is more painful. i still say dont get one, nothing is worth printing yourself forever.

  14. well, i advise you not to get a tattoo. from far away a lot of them look like scars or bruises, ant it's not so appealing. also, when you get older, you skin stretches, and it can warp the tattoo a little. it stretches out the tattoo and looks really gross. there is also a risk of aids while getting the tattoo and other diseases. but that's just my opinion. good luck!

  15. Don't.

There are a lot of roses walking around today that will look like deadheads in a few years.

I absolutely refuse to date anyone with any form of body art.

    Like ear piercing on babies.....sick

  16. make sure you put a lot of thought into what youre gonna get

  17. The only tip i will give you is don't have one.

  18. Best advice would be to find an artist that you like, they will make you feel more comfortable and if they chat away to you it will help take your mind off it. It's a weird feeling - not really painful a bit stingy and a bit tickely at the same time. If you want the design bad enough you'll get it regardless. Deffo have something to eat beforehand and take a sugary drink - coke or lucozade in with you to sip whilst having the work done - That will just stop your body going into shock . It's not as bad as you will expect but my artist told me to expect the worse and then you'll be pleasantly surprised. I have one on my ankle and at best felt like someone drawing on me with a biro and at worst a deep cat scratch. Dont worry, it's exciting if it's something you really want.

    Good luck
