i have to get an adult tooth pulled in 2 weeks because my orthodontist lied to me and now my teeth don't fit together on one side. but anyway, it's one on the bottom, next to the front tooth. i don't know what you call it but it's not a molar. i had to get 3 baby teeth pulled a couple years ago and it wasn't fun. also, i've heard a lot of horror stories about this kind of thing. How much will it hurt and is there anything i can do to make it not so sucky? i'm really terrified now so please help!

  1. it will not hurt at all, i have had 2 pulled, and they num your mouth with a shot which feels like someone sticking you a little, they leave you alone for a few minutes so that the medicine can start working ,and they come back and poke you in the jaw to see if you feel anything and if you do tell them yes so they can keep numming or mouth and if you dont feel anything you are already num and then they pull it and its a fast process, it dont take long at all, the only thing you will feel is the dentist messing with your mouth but you will not feel any pain.  A few hours later after the medicine wears off your gum will be sore and thats why they give you pain medicine after they pull it, please dont believe those crazy stories, if you trust your dentist i promise you will be ok.

  2. I had to have a tooth pulled last year. I went to an oral surgeon and she was great. I was given Novocaine and was still uneasy about having the tooth pulled. The doctor told me I would not feel anything, but maybe some pressure. She could tell I was terrified, (I almost cried out of pure fear) so she offered me the laughing gas as well. Let me tell you, the laughing gas did the trick. It took the edge off the "idea" of having pain. I will say I hated the feeling of the gas, (feeling like I had no control over myself, not breathing right...I was fine!) but with the gas and the Novocaine, I felt nothing. AS soon as I got home, I took Motrin. (They offered better pain meds., but what the doctor wanted to give me, I was allergic too) I kept on top of the motrin and ate soft things for a few days. But really by the next day, I felt really good. You will feel a little sore. Adult teeth are harder to remove then baby teeth, but these doctors are specialists in this field. Talk to the doctor and nurses on the day you go in. Ask about the gas, hey they might be giving it to you anyway. GOOD LUCK!

  3. i had all my upper teeth pulled on the same day. i was scared and shaking but my dentist was calm and told me what he was doing step by step. he gave me injections in my gums and i didnt feel a thing , he told me he was done and i thought he just started.

advice wear head phones to listen to some music you will be fine

  4. ok well i just got a tooth pulled in the worst spot in the mouth the dentist told me it was the worst spot to get a tooth pulled since its near more of nerves well like just close your eyes and don't think about it that's really all i can say but other than that tell the dentist if u can get under laughing gas or more than a couple of shots you know.

Don't be afraid to ask dentist don't want you to feel pain that's not what dentistery is about .
