Getting a washing machine upstairs, HELP!?

Please help, we have kindly been given a dyson washing machine, but cannot get it into our flat! we got it up one flight of stairs using 3 big burley men, they were sweating buckets by the end of it! our stairs to the kitchen are quite narrow, with a corner half way up, the washing machine will clear the space but is so heavy (105 kg!) and has no where to hold onto.

Does anyone have any ideas, we are seriously short of clean clothes now!!!! Thanks

  1. Either get a Hand truck that holds the weight and all you have to do is push or pull, or get straps that you tie around it (sell them at U-HAUL) to get a grasp on the machine. Good luck!

  2. If possible, put the machine on something with wheels (similar to  a roll-around heavy plant mover)  .  Then use 10 inch wide 2X10' planks for the wheels to move on, (like a train) ramp.  There will be room in between the planks for the men to step and push.  You can also have someone at the top use a few strong sheets braided together to wrap under and around to pull while the other men are pushing,  guess what, handles!

  3. if you could get hold of a trolley thing that holds heavy goods such as a washing machine, ask b&q or a hardware store...good luck!

  4. get a bed spread and lift up the washer long enough to place the bed spread under it. Make sure that you have enough of the bed spread left over so that you can slide it. The purpose here is that it is easier to pull an object than to push one. get a couple of you big burly men up stairs of the washing machine and have them pull the washer up the stairs and around corners. If needed the washer  sides can be pulled off without hurting anything to  remove a few inches of metal on either side to allow it to fit into the space you are trying for.

  5. Use an appliance dolly. Should only take two average guys. Get some straps to handle it. Keep safety in mind, straps can slip!

  6. Sometimes you can't get a dolly on short notice.

Take two peices of rope, or long strap and thread it under the washer. Your helpers will have a much easier time lifting if they don't have to bend. Take it one step at a time

    Good Luck
