Question:

Getting alcohol onto cruise?

by  |  earlier

I am taking a 4-Day Western Carribean cruise on Carnival this monday. I am 18, so I am not allowed to buy drinks on the ship, but while ported in Cozumel, Mexico, I would be able to. How would I get the alcohol I buy back onto the ship? Could they even take it away since I bought it in Mexico? Thanks!

  1. Hello??????????? All of you who answered "Yes" are wrong. You have to be 21 to drink on the ship; you have to be 21 to bring alcohol onto the ship (which will be taken from you and returned on disembarking, unless it's wine or champagne). At 18, you are considered to be underage on the ship and the alcohol will be confiscated. Enjoy your stay in Cozumel, but be careful that you don't miss the boat.

  2. Yes, they have a station when you get back to the ship where you turn in any alcohol you have purchased. They have you put any bag you carry through the xray type machine for screening. Then the night before you debark they put it in your cabin. You will be able to drink in Cozumel, but be careful they will literally pour it down your throat. And I've seen many miss or near miss when it comes to making it back onto the ship before sailing.

  3. is it the carnival inspiration leaving out of tampa and goin to cozumel and grand cayman bc we are going to

  4. Yes, they will take it from you, but they give it back when the cruise is over.

  5. i have been on 2 carnival crusies so ask me anything when u need help! but no they legally cant take it. you are only allowed 1 liter back into the US when coming home( that is combined.) ur right since u bought it in cozumel(been there twice too) they cant take it away.

  6. although you will be able to drink in Cozumel whatever alcohol you purchase on any of the islands you visit will be taken when you reboard the ship
