Excited at being named in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Taylor-c92915, said on Sunday that getting an England Test call is a dream come true situation for him.
“Getting an England Test call has been my aim from the word go," said the right-handed Nottingham batsman, who has played one ODI for England.
“I've always backed myself to play at the highest level and even though I'm young I've played a lot of cricket and I've got a lot of runs behind me,” he added further.
Taylor, 22, was on Sunday named in England’s 13-man squad for the Headingley Test as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RD-Shah-c2298 Bopara’s replacement, who became unavailable for selection citing personal reasons.
The Nottinghamshire batsman admitted that making his debut against the formidable South African attack would be a tough challenge for him. However, he said that he was not taking this opportunity for granted, and if given a chance to make the cut in the
Playing XI on Thursday, he will do his absolute best to make it count big time.
The 22-year-old said that going by his performance in the county cricket he was confident of an England call up, but he never took anything for granted and kept scoring runs consistently.
Nottingham-born Taylor, who has played one ODI for the national side, comes into the Test squad on the back of an exquisite 163 not out scored against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sussex-c852 in an LV = County Championship Division One match.
“Test cricket is the pinnacle but there was a noticeable step up to division one of the Championship and wickets haven't been easy to bat on this season,” said the middle-order batsman.

The second Test gets underway at Leeds, Headingley, from August 2, and Taylor will, in all probability, earn his first cap at No. 6, unless the hosts opt to play five bowlers.
