Question:

Getting an estimate from Home Depot for materials...?

We need an estimate for the materials we need to renovate our house to give to the bank so they can put it through with our loan. They said since we are doing the work ourselves that we can go to Home Depot and they can give us a receipt type estimate on the cost of all the materials... How do we go about this? Just go in Home Depot & have someone walk around with us tallying everything up??

  1. The pro desk or Contractor's Services should be able to help you even though you are not a contractor. They are usually there only on Mon-Fri 6AM to 6PM and Saturday 6AM to 3PM. They can do a quote for you. Bear in mind that lumber is a commodity however, and prices change often. also any check you bring in to pay with MUST be for the exact amount of the purchase or less. They don't give change back on checks. If your check in not the exact amount, they will likely let you use it to purchase a gift card for the amount of the check and then you can use the gift card to purchase the merchandise.

Home Depot can also arrange financing with a home improvement loan which allows you to make purchases for 6 months without any interest or payment before the payments begin.
