Getting another snake?

i bought an albino baby corn snake about a month ago and i really want another one is that ok .

Hello; I can't tell from your question whether or not you are planning on keeping them in separate cages? If so; then you should have no problem. Snakes tend to be addicting, and as long as you have the time and ability to take care of two snakes; that is great. :)

If you are planning on keeping them in the same cage; while it can be done, it really isn't a good idea to cohabitate snakes. There is a high risk of your Corn getting stressed as most snakes are naturally solitary. Plus, if one snake gets sick, has a parasite or a disease, chances are both will get it. If there is regurgitation in the cage both snakes will need to be treated like they did, and if there is something odd about their fecal matter that requires vet attention; both snakes will need to be taken to the vet. Also; while quite rare, there are cases Corns being cannibalistic. It isn't common by any means, but it does occasionally happen. As I said; while it can be done and I know many people who successfully cohabitate their Corn snakes; it isn't without its risks and should only be done very carefully and with you being fully prepared to separate the snakes should something go wrong.

Welcome to your addiction lol...

It's great that you are thinking of getting another, but don't keep them together for at least 3 months. Quarantine is extremely important for snakes.

I'd recommend not keeping them together in the same tank even after the QT period, but I know lots of people do, particularly corns.

that dipends .  aks yourself these ?s   can u handle taking care of 2 snakes

?.... can u aford 2 snakes?.. do u have room? ....    and u should not put them in the same tank . if u say yes to the ?s then i say you should get it but only get the one other one and wait for a while before you think about geting another .... ps snakes rock ...(and this is coming from a girl)

What is wrong with getting another one?  Make a list of the positive and negative aspects of getting another snake and then make your own decision.  Good luck!  : )

You can get as many as you want, but all snakes should be housed singly!  It is not natural for snakes to cohab, and it causes stress for them.  Join the forums for expert advice!  :)
