Question:

Getting around Carnival Cruise Lines age policy?

Tell me what you think of this (besides being very shady). 4 of us wanted to book a cruise but one person is 20 yrs old. Carnivals policy requires us to have someone in the room that is 25 yrs old to act as a guardian. What if we just paid an extra $150 to add a person and for say.. a parent.. to come but he/she just happens to not show up.

We know we won't get our money back but Carnival is that much cheaper than other cruise lines/we're booking very last minute and are low on options.

Do you think this would work? Anyone go on a carnival cruise before and know if your entire room has to check in together? Thanks!

  1. If the person of age doesn't show, you won't be allowed to board. Sorry.

  2. No.  They could deny boarding to all of you if the "chaperone" doesn't show up.  The entire room doesn't have to check in together, but passports and IDs are checked as to age, etc.

  3. Sorry that wont happen-Carnival is EXTREMELY strict when it comes to age requirements, and they have seen every trick in the book.

  4. Nope, sorry, Carnival's pretty strict about that stuff.

Princess and RCI are probably your best bets -- they let you have any person (not just a parent or guardian) aged 21+ act as a chaperone.

More details on each line's age restrictions:

You can also use the cruise search box on that page to check for availability on Princess and RCI cruises.

    Good luck to you.

  5. all cruise lines know how many guest are going to be in a room because they ask for each person to have a boarding pass that they get off the computer  and that is handed to them as you enter the dock than they take your pics. for security and than they have a count so no way will you be able to get away with it . sorry.
