  1. You should make sure the video is MP4 or H2.64 video for iPod. I like this DVD to iPod Video Suite to rip DVD movie and convert videos in any format to iPod. It is the fastest converter I have used. Also, the output quality is great. You can download this software free from here

Here is a step by step guide about converting DVD, Videos, Flash and Youtube videos to iPod

  2. Hi Bill G - use handbrake and convert your avi files to h.264 then import the file into iTunes and convert the selection for iPod/iPhone then sync when done.

  3. If you've exported a video for iPod play, you may come across a situation in which the converted video doesn't contain any sound when you play the file in QuickTime Player, iTunes, or on your iPod. If this is the case, the original video file may be in a format that contains muxed (multiplexed) audio and video, and cannot be exported with audio.

If the format is "MPEG1 Muxed" or "MPEG2 Muxed," the audio portion of the file may not be retained with QuickTime

So you need a professional Video Converter to convert your the videos to mp4 or mov format supported by iTunes. I recommend Movavi Video Converter.

  4. check you ipod settings first, or try another ipod converter, view if get the same problem,

  5. Did you use iTunes to convert video to iPod? if yes, Please change another video converter for a trial, because iTunes cant convert muxed video, the converted video will have no sound (muxed video which means the audio and video are on the same track, quicktime or iTune can not deal with this kind of videos, ).

And I always use cucusoft ipod movie/video converter to convert video to MP4 for my iPod, my friends recommend it to me, it's easy to use and works perfect, what's more, it deals with muxed video very well, you can check it out here for free:
