Getting back into running..?

I haven't ran since I was a freshmen in High School. I am now 21. I always loved running but stopped then bc my doctor said I had weak knees caused from being a premature baby so my bones she said were weak. but I am older and my knees I think are better. I am mainly running again bc I want to get back in shape for the summer and get stronger and fit. I ran yesterday probably about a half a mile and felt like I was dying but it felt great lol. What are some routines I can do to gradually get myself back into the sport. I was a sprinter to a mid- distance runner in track. Thanks.

  1. I took about a year off of running. When I got back into it I felt sooo out of shape! But in any case, I speed walked everyday for a week. That definitely got my cardio endurance up, so I took it up a notch and started slow jogging the week after that. When I felt like I was ready for the real thing, I was back into running!

    It took about 3-4 weeks to regain my fitness level. Don't be discouraged! You'll get back into it in no time!


  2. honestly, running everyday except on one day and taking a longer run on one of those days is a good start.

    Also, weights and cardio are also really good.
