Getting better at acting?

i have some idea's as to how to get better at acting, but i can't always get to do them...im 15 and REALLY want to act/film act...

first of all, i've been told that i can be monotonous [which i wood hafta agree is true] cuz for the past year or so, ive just about COMPLETELY stopped showing a lot of emotion around people...idk, i get really self conscious about it or sumthin, even though i say thats not why...

i also hate the sound of my voice...i like the voice i hear when i talk, but when i hear it reflecting off the phone or on a message or on my mp3, i HATE IT! it makes me practically wanna never talk again...i know some of my friends say the same thing, so is it like this for everyone? i feel like my real voice is an annoying one...

so, if i were to act out something dramatic, like falling off a mountain or something, voice-wise, i feel like it wood end up terrible...idk tho i havent tried...

what can i do/where can i go to get better at this?

  1. 1 word "classes"

  2. I, like you, would really like to act professionally when I get older (I'm currently 14), and I also hate my voice when I hear it recorded. My mom says that it will take time to get used to it, so I think you should just try to forget about it.

As for getting better at acting, watch a lot of good Oscar-winning films for help on good acting. If it won an Acting Oscar, it must be somewhat good, right ?!?

YOu should try out for the school play, and don't take the homos who direct them that seriously when they negatively criticize you. What has acting done for them if they're stuck directing a high school play?

Good luck and I hope I helped.

  3. No discouragement here other than I dislike Comp shorthand.

Your age isn't your choice, nor is your maturation in a strict sense. Practicing the craft is in your control, even if not WORKING it yet. Your stress regarding your voice will likely lessen with maturation, but it better not be the only consideration in pursuing what you might want to do. I suspect if you listened just to 100 voices, not knowing or caring whose, you'd find every one different, and not all theatrical in nature.

When your 65 you might enjoy having a youngish voice.

  4. ok  look around your town and go to local and community theaters. maybe you hate your vocie but other people loveeee  it you never know. you can look in newpapers on the web or even call up ur opperator lol.. you could also take actign lessons you know like singers take vocals. good luck
