  1. You can practice your passing by simply locking your hands together while bouncing the ball striaght up. Make sure you have then flatest part of your arm facing upward to have mximum controll. By keeping your thumbs parallel this will cause your arms to do so.

To practice your hitting, just find a wall and hit downward a little in front of it. When you have the correst spin on the ball, it should then ride back up the wall and come back to you. When you do that you can hit it over and over while increasing how hard you swing.

If you are a setter, use mainly your thumb, pointer, and index finger to place the ball. they are your stongest and will give you optimal controll. To practice, get in front of a basketball goal and practice throwing the ball up(like it was passed to you) and setting it in the hoop.

To get better with your hand eye coordnation, get an agility ball from d**k's or hibbits. It bounces in different directions and you can practice moving towards it like it was a ball. Also jump rope to get quicker.

Hope I helped! And GOOD LUCK this season!

  2. I used to volley against the side of my house, every time you hit it, it comes back just as hard so you can get used to playing against actuall people, it works really well.

  3. There are also some good advices and videos that show you good techniques. As you have never played before it might be essential that you start learning it the correct way. Just Take a look at http://www.squidoo.com/How-To-Improve-Yo... there you might also find advice of how to practice alone without a team and a court.

  4. Ask your mom if it was a cheap one?  If she paid over $30 for it, then ask her to buy a cheap $20 one or ask to exchange it for a cheap one.

The cheap one you can use outside on any surface, and against any wall, like brick or concrete.

Find an area with a wall, like a car park area?

You want to be able to throw up the ball, like as in set, and to go forward and spike it.

To practice this often, so that spiking comes easy and naturally to you.  Use a bent elbow that straightens for your spike.  Practice the fast elbow flick (with a ball) start slowly and then go faster and faster. Never go fast all out, straight away - that is not good for your muscles.

Practice this regularly - and soon you'll be a natural spiker.

With the ball when you make contact, add the wrist  curl - this adds spin to the ball, which is very very useful.

This makes the ball land in court, and go over the net (and blockers).

Practice with friends - now you can dig, set and spike at each other.   You don't need a net - just regular practice together.  Even non-volleyball friends can join in - they'll soon pick it up off you.  Even your mother can catch the ball and throw it at you -for some practice.

By yourself, you can only practice spiking, and doing the 'set'.

You set against the wall, or just straight up... to practice the fingering method used. Use the correct way to hold your fingers and practice catching it and pushing it off that way..

Watch some beachvolleyball on TV, whatever - and just copy their basic moves...

Learn the windmill serve - and you'll have a great serve, after your spike serve.  With a spike serve - you can just hold the ball high, and just hit it.  Later you can try the throw then spike serve it... then add the windmill (a great serve, because it does not tire you out, and adds a lot of extra spin to it, when it is working properly.)

  5. put your hands together like, hold them together with your arms straight out in front of you and bounce the ball on you forearm. Volley balls are hard and you arm has to get used to that stupid stinging! any way, once you get good at that, you practice serving the ball across your backyard. once you get really good, the neighbors might not like you anymore because your serving the ball into there back yard! :D but remember, never serve to hard because you might get the ball out of bounds and that would suck! good luck and practice hard!!!

  6. on the side of ur house or a brick wall

practice bumping, setting, spiking, and serving against the wall

you dont have to have a net to be good and practice.

  7. well you need to get someone to pass with you and with this you can practice your setting and passing also your hitting because they can set it and you can hit it to them and you dont have to do an approach with this you can just do a simple hit down to get better ball control

  8. k so this might sound odd, but my roof is like...slanted kinda so if u throw something on it itrolls off. so i throw my volleyball off of it and work on passing. so like........i'll throw it off and it will come down in tehair, then i pass it back up and it comes down again. its like having another person pass it back to u. and my passing has gotten a lot better. dont focus on being like omg if i do this iwill be much better, gotta do this and stuff. just do it and have fun wiht it.

  9. u can set to uself, bump to urself. the best way to learn setting is doing it against the wall. play against the wall actually. or have someone go to ur house and volley with them. if there were on the team, ask them for some pointers on how to get better. the best way is to practice no matter what ur doing, whether its stretches, foot movement, stances, or actually hitting the ball. just practice practice practice. if u have any questions,

  10. PASSING:outside  you can find a flat wall and toss the ball against the wall and when it comes back, continuously hit it.

or you could hit the ball up and down to yourselft. each pass should go over your head

SETTING: find a wall and do the same thing as said above for passing except using the setting movements

SERVING: without a ball or with a balloon go through the movements of a serve (this way you dont have to chase after a ball) or if you have someone to play with you, chose a place to stand and have a person stand opposite of you with a reasonable size between you 2 and serve back and forth
