Question:

Getting braces off soon? (what do these mean?)?

On the 14th of August I'm going to get my braces off. It's at 8 in the morning but then at 3:15 I have to go back??

The paper says its each 60 minutes. What do you think I have to do?

And then on Sept. I have to go and it says it's for Del temp. Ret. What the heck does that stand for? Is it a temporary retainer? Won't my teeth move after a month?

In Oct. I have Final Recs, what is that?

Also a few weeks after, I have Pono CK??

Sorry its so many questions but I don't understand Orthodontist language! Thank you for all that answered.

  1. Often times an ortho will take the braces off in the AM, impression for the retainers, then place retainers in the PM.  The first appointment being 60 minutes long makes sense - the bracework has to be removed, the adhesive removed, a good cleaning & impressions.

The second appointment being 60 minutes makes me wonder if they're doing "permanent" or "lingual" retainers?  Gluing thin retainer wires to the tongue sides of the front teeth.  These are kind of fussy procedures & they take a bit of time.

I don't quite understand why you need a temporary retainer, unless you have some restorative work like crowns or fillings to be done at the general dentist   ( "Del. Temp. Ret."  is "deliver temporary retainer" - deliver is just the ortho way of saying "put on" or "give")

Final records - when you started at the beginning, you had x-rays, photos, & possibly impressions.  Well that gave them a record of before treatment, now they need a record of after. So they'll repeat the records process.  No biggie.

Pono ck?  No idea.  Sorry.  Call the office and ask.  It costs nothing to ask a question.

Hope this helps.  Congrats on getting them off.

    Happy eating!!

  2. maybe they are taking the top off and then the bottom.. the del temp ret. could be something with ur retainer .. maybe making impressions.. and ur teeth will move.. but not that much..a nd right when you take them make a mold of ur teeth for a retainer.. so it'll be fine.. i got my retainer about a month after i got my grill off.. so you'll be fine
