Question:

Getting cat pee smell out of carpet?

My cat peed in a corner of my room while I was on vacation (how kind of him). It's a 4x4 section. I have poured vinegar over the spot 3 times (one time I let it soak for 2 full days), washed it 5 fives with a carpet cleaner and rinsed it 10. It smells worse than before. Vinegar was the only thing that would get rid of the smell usually, as I have used it on my carpet before, but it isn't working anymore. Any suggestions? Thank you.

  1. Unfortunately pet stains are the hardest to get out.

    Sometimes impossible.

The urine will seep down inside the Carpet into the pad & sometimes even the floor.

You should get it professionally cleaned.

You have to pull back the carpet, cut out the affected pad, clean the floor with bleach.

Take a sample of pad to Home Depot to match

Replace the pad & you could try to clean the carpet yourself but I would get a pro.

    Good luck

  2. This may seem pretty wild but it works really good.  Go to the store and pick up a feminine douche and mix it in the shampooer and shampoo the carpet with the solution.  Good Luck and God Bless

  3. baking soda has always worked for me. Let it sit for at least 30 minutes.

  4. Try using baking soda after you have scrubed it with a mild soapy soultion the baking soda will set up and usually pull out the smells then when dry vaccumm it up then if there is still odor try spraying a linen spray on it .... good luck.

  5. I take care of people with disabilities, many of whom have cats, and one cat in particular is very sweet and neutered, but still pees on one spot of the carpet.  The carpet cleaner told me that the only way to totally get out the smell would be to lift the carpet, pull out the rotted pad, paint the spot on the cement or subfloor to seal in the smell, put down a new square of padding, then put the carpet back down.  This gentleman used a major commercial grade urine remover, and it did only faded the odor since it's under the carpet as well.

Finally, I had a cat pee on some furniture, and a product called OdoBan that you can get at Wal-Mart or Sam's poured directly on the spot took care of most of the odor.  Good luck!

  6. my dog does the same thing

my parents just get the carpets clean proffesionaly

    its hard training them though!!

  7. Carpet shampoo, air freshener, anti-bac, and litter training.

  8. Make a paste up containing bi carb soda & water, spread this on the area, leave over night then vacuum.this should draw the smell out,I would do this a few times,as you have probably drenched the underlay with the vinegar & it has well & truly soaked in,I would even add some eucalyptus oil

  9. Try sprinkling bicarb soda on the stain. Brush it in and leave for a few hours. Then vacuum it up.

If that doesn't work repeat the sprinkle-brush-leave bit, but then rinse it out with a 1:5 vinegar to water solution. It will fizz a lot. Then allow it to dry.

    Hope that helps.
