Ideally i'd like to get my degree in criminal justice, so could I get a lot of my school done while i'm serving?

  1. My husband received his degree in criminal justice while serving in the Navy. I can tell you that aside from his job, he also had a wife and family and still managed to fine time to go to school and pull of a 4.0 GPA. Many of his classes were done on-line through the University Of Maryland and Excelsior College. (Both excellent schools for people who are serving n the Military) Now that he is retired from the Navy, he's attending the University of Tennessee and pursuing his Masters degree in law.

  2. Go for it.  You can go all the way to aa Masters degree if U wish.  See your Unit Counselor.

  3. Yes you can,

Figure to average around 15 semester hours a year

IE: about a half time load

Don't plan on taking class's untill after you have been in the Navy a year, after your qualified in your job.

IE: after A School and your OJT training afterwards.

You can take a heavier class load,

But you pay the price in having no free time.

Firgure around 6 years for a BS degree.

  4. depends on your location, MOS, command, IRAQ lol and a bunch of other reasons I can't think of at the moment.  As stated though, you can always do theonline gig.

Make sure you have your training and military education evaluated when applying for whatever college you attend.  The American Counsel of Edcuation offers credit based on all your experience and training from the military.  It's not uncommon for many servicemen/women to have close a year or more of college credit before even stepping foot in a classroom.  GL.
