Question:

Getting contacts for first time, what do you recommend?

I'm extremely nearsighted, so I can't see hardly anything far away. So I've had glasses for about 10 years now but only need them when I'm driving, watching TV etc...

I do get a little queasy when putting things into my eye but I'm not worried about learning how to put them in (any tips on that too would be nice).

I'm also looking to get colored contacts, opaque or enhanced, not sure yet.

What's essential for a first timer and what brands would you recommend for me? - I'll be getting a prescription for contacts next week, once that's done do you recommend 1800contacts.com?

Thanks.

  1. We'll I would highly recommend wearing the daily disposable contacts, that you get rod of every night. Those are the safest and don't have to worry about the mess, however, I would recommend Acuve.

  2. Hey

I got tired of glases and contacts. I would go for lasik now.

  3. When you go for your contact exam, just tell them you are interested in the color lenses, and they will show you samples of the colors, and you will get to try them on to see how they look.

As for the brand, well, that will probably be determined by the Dr. , depending which one fits you the best. The patient doesn't always have a choice in the brand because some brands just don't fit some people.

They will also show you how to put them in and remove them. It is much easier to learn while they are showing you than just reading about it weeks before.

    Good luck with them.

  4. Don't worry too much about it. The first few times you will have a hard time putting them in but after awhile it'll be like brushing your teeth!

Just pry open your eyes wide so you can put them in easily

  5. I wore contacts for 10 years and always used 1800contacts to fill my prescriptions. You need to go through your dr for your trials and wait until after you make sure the prescription is suitable for you. Don't let the dr bully you into filling your prescription there though.
