I just started working at target and I’m having a hard time trying get people to sign up for the target credit card thing. I know its not a big deal, its only target but I just want to do well and work hard and I was wondering what’s a good sales pitch or a good way to sell it?

  1. Doesn't Target offer 10% off if you sign up?  That's a big selling point to someone who has a huge purchase.  Also, sell the other benefits of the card - don't they offer rewards back and coupons for the store when you make a certain amount of purchases?  How about no annual fee?

I would just take a look at the brochure and what the card actually has to offer and sell those points to your customers.  But don't be too hard on yourself, the economy is struggling right now, people aren't spending as much and they aren't running out to get more credit cards because they can't afford the additional payments.

You might also want to talk with your manager and just mention that you really want to excel and ask for some pointers.  Management loves to tell people what to do, so it will make you look good to them.  Good luck at the new job.

  2. tell them exactly how much they'll save.. lets say the card will give the customer 20% off their purchase (i dont know how much it takes off, but it does take off something if they sign up, right?) and their total comes to $100.. say something like, "would you like to save $20 today by signing up for a target red card?" or something to that effect. once people hear how much $$ they'll be saving, they'll want in. good luck!!!!
