Question:

Getting enough sleep?

I'm 15 years old, and get around 8 - 9 hours sleep. (I go to bed at around 10pm and wake up at 7am).

However find it really hard to get out of bed in the morning and I get really tired during the day, especially when I'm at school and it's late afternoon.

I've heard that I only need about 8 hours sleep for my age, but then why do I feel so tired all the time? I don't excercise too much and i eat alright, so what's making me so tired?

I always feel low in energy and I find it hard to concentrate at school.

Please help!

  1. I'd check with your doctor. You may have low Iron in your blood.

Try taking a multi vitamn and an Iron supplement. :)  Both of which you can find at wal mart. My daughter takes one a day energy and she is doing great in high school. Not nearly as tired. Also, make sure it's not stress that's making you sluggish. Try to resolve that if it is.

Also make sure you eat break fast, and thru out the day don't eat as much junk food. Steer clear of coffee too.

    Good luck kiddo!

  2. that was my problem, but not anymore since I've discovered a clue.

    which is :

    * As long as you get up by you self, you won't feel tired any more after that, but if you depend 100% on somebody else who wake you up every morning then you'll feel tired, because you didn't want to get up by your self and you may feel bothered by that, so try to adjust your self to wake up early,...even more try not to depend basically on alarms,...

I don't know how to do that exactly but it's something called biological watch .....your watch that alarms you even when you are asleep to get up if you had something important to do early like being worried about an exam that you may miss, which makes you alarmed and that's the motive which will help you get up by your self.

maybe you'll feel like I'm weird by telling that weird thing, but I advice you to give it a try, you won't lose anything.

  3. maybe you need multivitamins, those with iron. .

multivitamins helps the body go go go. .

that's true, actually we have the same problem. .

  4. it could be a number of things...many things cause disturbances in sleep...stress,diet,medications.....

also recently studies have shown that "teenagers" actually need more sleep 9+hrs..... as they are going through such huge changes in that time....... so you may need a little more sleep..i used to be tired all the time when i was a teenager too..now im 24 and im an insomniac! lol go figure!

in the mean time if you need to try and keep yourself awake since you are only 15 try to incorporate some exercise(a light walk int he mornings even 20 mins will make a huge difference) or try to eat a more healthy diet that will promote wakefullness.....please try to avoid things like coffee and pop etc. to keep yourself it will just make your sleep patterns worse as the years go on and its really terrible for your health in the long run.
